Description
Winning bidder will receive when PICKING UPfrom our location in Lenoir, N.C. 28645:
The
exact
items as are pictured above, those items
being:
* One "Dayton" scale.
* One "R.C. Allen" register.
Southern measurements are provided in the photos,
but in the event that you don't have any of the shown
standard units of measure, the Northern measurements
are:
The scale:
Top to bottom is 30 & 7/8 inches.
Side to side is 17 inches.
Front to back is 19 & 6/8 inches.
The register:
Top to bottom is 9 & 1/2 inches.
Side to side is 8 & 6/8 inches not counting the handle.
Front to back is 13 & 3/8 inches.
Items are in used / restorable or decorative condition.
The scale is missing the plate or panel that is used to
put the items needing to be weighed.
The scale's number roll spins freely when pushing
down where the plate is missing.
The mirrors on both sides of the scale, although
not cracked, will need replaced or resurfaced.
The register is in poor shape. A lot of the keys
are frozen in place - some on top, and some on
the bottom.
Amazingly, the register still has the old-style fabric
ink ribbon in place.
And now, a few words about markings on the machines:
On scale is,
"Style No. 144
Serial Number 993799
Patented June 24, 1913
Capacity 30 lbs."
On register is,
"R.C. Allen Business Machinery
Grand Rapids, Mich.
Model 805
Serial Number 1317300."
We can't tell the color of these items as no one here can see in color, only in black & white and certain ultra-violet shades of gray, so please refer to the photographs above for any question of color.
We were told by someone who may or may not
know what they are talking about, that the register
can be submerged in oil which will loosen up the
stuck keys. Unfortunately, this person did not say
for how long to soak it or what sort of oil to soak it
in. We assume not vegetable oil, Oil Of Olay, or the
oil of human kindness.
In addition to the above, and prior to bidding
,
please examine the inclusive photos carefully as
they
are an integral p
art of the description of the
items.
The standard-size pop cans, cereal boxes,
Mr. Koostow, and Miss De Milo appearing
in the photos are not included.
Both items are presented and offered for
ownership in their "As Rescued /
Uncleaned
Condition."
There was a spring found near the scale.
We don't know if it goes to it or not, but we
will include it. If it does not go to the scale,
then you may consider this to be a free bonus
item.
STUNNING UPDATE:
Mr. Koostow has attracted a mate! She only
has 5 tentacles due to a motorboat propeller
accident, but like Mr. Koostow is fond of saying,
"Any port in a storm!"
