Dies for manufacture only from 1859-60. Title "VISION OF EZECHIEL" beneath the cloud and engraver HENNING & EYMANN, NY to left of fruit basket. Slight gap open on hinge side of case and 2 brass catches have broken away.

    Very Rare Original 1850's-60's Photographic Case in Very Excellent Collector Condition (See photos)  No breaks, cracks, scratches, or chips. Brass clasps held case in closed position are broken off.  Hinges are excellent. Slight gap on hinge side when closed.

    Many collectors call these "gutta percha" cases, but the correct name is thermoplastic because these were the first plastic, heat molded products.  Gutta percha products are actually a hard rubber product often used on mid-nineteenth century buttons. Purchased from an estate in Florida.
