Description
So, there's a story behind how I got this. In the Summer of 1991, I was working as a Fishery Observer, deployed aboard commercial fishing vessels out of Dutch Harbor, Alaska. One day, when my boat was in port, offloading, a special Soviet Navy sailing ship on a goodwill tour, docked in Dutch Harbor. The sailors were not allowed off of their ship, but we were able to converse with them and trade items over the deck rail and through the portholes. I bought several pieces of Soviet Navy uniforms, which the sailors removed right then and there and handed to me. I also traded cassette tapes, and shots of US booze for Soviet booze. I gave away most of the uniform items to my nephews, but kept the belt (which I currently cannot find) and buckle. So there you have it, provenance. The buckle is made of solid brass and is 2" x 2.75."
Ships USPS First Class. Thanks!
