Vintage Howe Scales with cast iron columns and marble base

Description

Howe weighted scales with cast iron columns and marble base.  I don't know
if all these pieces originally went together but this is how I found it.  The top
is wood, the scale beam is brass, the columns are cast iron and the base appears
to be marble.  The base dimensions are 47 x 20 1/2 x 5.  The height is approximately
66 1/2.  Have been told by some that it was used for weighing big pieces of meat.  I really
can't verify that.  It displays well and would make a great window or island display.
Really don't want to ship as there is some weight there.  However contact me prior to
