Description

Here for sale is a very fine example of Japanese Art Stoneware Pottery created by HAPPU OTAGIRI  from the famous studio known for their hen chicken design from the 1960's - 1970's.   The pitcher is chicken shaped and stands 8 1/2" tall and measures 6 3/4" wide from beak to handle edge across with a base of 3 5/8" by 2 3/4". Both pieces are in very good vintage condition with no concerns noticed.  Paper label on pitcher is partially worn away is stamped in ink "Made in Japan.  The little plate measures approximately 5 1/8" and is is nearly 1" high at the tail and beak, like a small dish or bowl.  It has HAPPU embedded and stamped in to it. They feature a burnished glazing on the chicken's head, tail and feathers and have features that the artist carved into the form before firing. The centers of the plate and pitcher feature an abstract geometric swirl pattern in the middle, carved in relief to the actual form. The artist then hand-painted over it with a cobalt blue semi-transparent glaze. Both feature a subtle blue hue from the overall glaze on the front and tiny dots of brown.  There is variation in each piece due to the handcrafting and hand painting.
It is heavy and I may have to adjust the amount for shipping depending on your zip code area but will refund immediately if I have asked to much for shipping.

If I have asked too much  money to ship to your area, you will get a refund immediately.  I will do whatever possible to reduce the cost of shipping. I reserve the right to ask for and receive the real amount for shipping costs. Payment is due within three days of the auction ending time. Thanks for looking and good luck always!
BY PLACING A BID ON OR PURCHASING AN ITEM YOU AGREE THAT YOU HAVE READ AND UNDERSTAND AND ACCEPT ALL TERMS AND CONDITIONS AS STATED BELOW.  VERY IMPORTANT: The SHIPPING CARRIER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR LOST OR DAMAGED ITEMS WHEN ITEMS ARE INSURED.  Any insurance claims or monetary claims for items damaged during transit will be strictly between the buyer and the freight company in question.  I pack items with care but when the carrier takes possession, I can’t guarantee safety.   In the unlikely event that an item is damaged during shipping transit, You, the Buyer, agree to file the insurance claim with the U.S. Post Office for reimbursement.  I will send you the necessary receipts for you to file a claim with the Post Office. It is YOUR responsibility to file a claim for any insured items that are damaged because that is what Insurance is purchased for. This is the U.S. Post Office requirement and this information is found on their web site on the “File A Claim” page.  I can NOT file claims with the Post Office for you. E Bay might tell you differently, but the U.S. Postal Regulations and Requirements are very clear. In order for the claim to be processed with the Post Office, the receiver of the damaged item must file the claim at their local Post Office or you may file online. You will need to keep the damaged item, the box with the labels on it, and all of the original packing materials as the Post Office may require them for proof of damage.
If the item is broken or damaged during shipping (I ALWAYS inspect everything before it leaves here) and there is insurance on the item, the claim must be started at the buyer's location and should not be returned to me. Always contact me to make sure that you have everything you need to do this. I wrap very well and don't expect there to be any problems.
