    Description

This is an old scale that came out of my father's North Alabama General Store when it closed in 1988.  The store had
been in the family since 1903.  I do not know how old this scale is as it was always there when I was growing up in the
40's and 50's.  The story goes that the glass was broken when my father was asked if he could weigh a baby on it.
Evidently the baby was too heavy!  The name on the scale is The Standard Computing Scale Co. Ltd. Detroit, Mich.
The scale is approximately 31 inches high, the barrel is 17 inches long, the glass is 16 inches long and 12.5 at the
widest part.  The glass has been glued back together, but over the years it received quite a few chip marks.  I counted
about a dozen around the edges.  It's a wonderful piece of history from the days of the old country stores and I hate
to part with it but it's time for it to have a new home.
It is offered PICK UP ONLY from Albertville, Alabama which is one hour south east of Huntsville, one hour and a half
North East of Birmingham, AL and one hour and a half South from Chattanooga, TN
