Originally folded as issued, this poster has been stored flat for 19 years and will be shipped rolled in a sturdy tube.

    Next up is this striking original Belgian movie poster from the first release of the classic Charlie Chaplin comedy,
    The Great Dictator
    . Written, produced, d
    irected, scored by and starring Chaplin, this political comic satire was his first true sound film. A stirring condemnation of Nazi Germany, the movie premiered while the USA was still at peace and neutral with Hitler's third reich. This poster is from the first release of the movie in Belgium after the end of WWII (probably late 1945 or 1946). It is printed on the reverse of an ordnance map which was standard practice at the time in order to conserve paper. A prior owner thought fit to completely trim all the white borders of the poster, possibly to fit it in a frame. Despite this condition issue, this poster displays very well and the vivid artwork (unique to this Belgian poster) is generally unaffected. Rest assured that this is an authentic original 1st release Belgian movie poster. This poster rarely comes up for sale or auction and would make a wonderful addition to your Chaplin or classic comedy movie poster collection.
