    Description

I’ve certainly never seen an ambrotype (or a daguerreotype or a tintype) of a house with red columns. Count them: Seven!
Sign on the building: "STERLINGVILLE HOUSE."
We found that there was a mining town called Sterlingville in Oregon, which no longer exists. And also, a Sterlingville in New York, which was destroyed when Fort Drum expanded.
There’s a man leaning against one of the red columns. There’s another man, or perhaps a boy, sitting on a short ladder. There are 2 chimneys. And there’s an interesting structure that looks like a weathervane, next to the house, at the left edge.
    SIZE. Quarter plate.
HOUSING. Full case with new tape on the spine.
    CONDITION. Spots and some soiling.
APPEARANCE. Nicely fills the frame. Some great details. The red columns are wonderful!
