    Who – ME?
I have been transferring film to video for over 47 years. I started with a JAN 16mm from a TV station back in the telecine days (1972). Numerous Eiki’s and Elmo’s through the ages too. In 1999, with digital video for everyone on the horizon, I built my 1st frame-by-frame capture unit for Super 8MM/Sound.
For over 20 years, my profession was involved with the archival and digital asset departments of a major art museum. While I work from home now, as most transfer services on E-bay'ers do, I still have prints coming in from them.
Since then, I have endlessly built and continuously modified my own equipment to provide the best service and gentlest film handling available. These custom machines (one for each format) are not commercially available. I never liked being locked into someone else s design, machining or software design. I
    don’t use any “MovieStuff
” equipment , but also my units are not as elaborate as my dream machine from the Reflex Technologies (Burbank) You HAVE to look them up. (Love to provide a link – but you know the Bays rules!)
ALERT - I DO NOT USE Wolverines, or the
    Chinese
Reflex machines. They scratch film, and have crummy cameras! I have tested them all! SAVE YOUR TIME and MONEY!
My prices and service say it all. I’m retired from 40 years of film and TV, and owning my own (80’s) video production company (who doesn’t anymore?).
    Q&A
Q- Can I send those little white reels of 8mm?
A- Sure! Put them in one box. 20Reels x 50ft=
    about 60min
, so you will pay for only
    60
    order
    s
    .
Q- What if my films need splicing?
A- DON’T BOTHER – It’s simple to lace up my machines. You will receive one contiguous video of all you shots. Or you can request individual files. Keep in mind that home movie “splices” are usually gummy and dirty, which will show up at each of the final “joins”.
Q- Do you copy commercial films?
A- Yes. I assume you own the print if it’s in your possession, and are using this digital copy as an archive of your precious movie film. I trust that you do not re-purpose it for U-Tub or F-book etc. But that is your business, and infringement lawsuit!
Q- Can I get still frames?
A- Certainly! In fact, I can provide you with every frame of your film, and you can pick out and manipulate the ones you want. If you have a decent editing system, like Premier, Avid, Davinci, etc., you can bring them all in and “stitch” together a video. Like making a card flip cartoon! My software does that in real time as each frame is captured.
    Q- What format?
A- You name it. The final output can be anything from ready to upload You-Tube, to a hi quality mastering version for your post production. Just let me know in the notes when you place the order.
    Q- Is there a warranty?
A- Well, you are getting a digital file. I keep a copy here for 1 year, just in case you misplace yours. Of course, all backups and storage issues are yours!
Q- What if I have 4.25 minutes of final video, like 1 reel?
A- That would .29, plus shipping
Q-Am I charged for “black” (unexposed) film?
A-Unless it is a sound print, most black segments will be clipped from your final video and there fore reduce your total time /charges. However, I am not doing frame accurate cuts unless you desire so at additional costs.
Q- How long are your prices good for?
A- Until I go broke doing it!
A personal note. Everyone listing film services on E-bay and the Web all do a marvelous job of it.  Just8mm, Nostalgicmedia, LegacyBox, GibsonVideo, BestTapeTransfer and hundreds of others all do fine work.
Since we all have virtually the same cameras, the results all look similar, and of
    course
, only as good as your films.
So the question is, how do you select?
    My
    recommendation
    - Ask questions, get to know the operator/owner, and go with WHO is the better match for your project. Even if you write me for a second opinion, that's O.K. I am happy to tap my 50 years of film experience, including theatrical projection, to help guide you through one of the most precious
    family
projects you may ever have. And I do those orphan films. Even those dirty,
    vinegar, smelly ones!

    ONLY 1.95 per final minute!
    What they say:
    Dave --
Just wanted to send a note thanking you for your great work on making a 2K transfer of my film adaptation of Franz Kafka's
    A HUNGER ARTIST.
It was a 36 year old black & white 16mm Inter Positive that had been haphazardly stored in damp basements and hot closets.
I didn't have much hope for a good transfer but you worked your
    Advantage Video Services
magic and gave me back a stunning picture at a great price.
I would - and will - highly recommend
    AVS
for anyone with film to HD video needs.
    Thanks again!
    John S.
NOTE: FREE SHIPPING is only to initiate the order.
E-bay rules make this process difficult, to say the least.
