    Description

This auction is for a SOVIET RUSSIAN M1969 OFFICER'S PARADE UNIFORM, circa early 1980's, COMPLETE with ALL ORDERS, MEDALS, and BADGES, AS SHOWN. The CORRECT VISOR CAP, a BLACK, PARADE NECKTIE, as well as the proper OFFICER'S BROCADE, PARADE BELT & BUCKLE, are also included, virtually EVERYTHING needed, EXCEPT for a white officer's parade shirt (easily found). Rank is COLONEL, Branch is MOTOR RIFLES (INFANTRY). The size is approximately 39R (US size) for the tunic, and the breeches are about 34-35" waist and regular length. The entire uniform is in OUTSTANDING, EXCELLENT++ CONDITION, and the cap is NOS, with maker's label still attached, in size 57 (medium, approximately 7 1/8 US size).
The color of this uniform, tunic, breeches and cap, is "sea wave", as the Soviets called it, or, in an earlier age, "Tsar's green", more or less a TEAL, a sort of greenish blue. The tunic, breeches, and cap crown are trimmed with bright red piping, to signify a member of the Soviet Ground Forces, and the cap carries a wide band of similar red color. The collar tabs are metal, gold in color, with bright red cloth tabs and a small, gold metal, star-and-wreath device to indicate Motor Rifles. The Shoulder boards are, again, of the M1969 pattern, displaying a bright red wool base, covered with the woven, gold, silky material with two red stripes of a field grade officer. THAT, along with the three large, gold stars indicate specifically the rank of colonel. The gold tone buttons on the front of the tunic are of the Star, hammer & sickle design, and are dated 1982. That constitutes the basic uniform.
NOW, turning your attention to the decorations; these are mounted on the chest, both right and left sides, in the DIAGONAL pattern much preferred for its visual beauty, as was used until the later regulations (1980's) kicked in, which changed the mounting of all orders, medals and badges, to be HORIZONTAL, which continues with Russian uniforms even today. Those decorations of a higher standing or precedence are those in the top rows closest to the buttons, then radiating upward and outward, then the next row, and so on.
PLEASE: Take notice that the Medals and badges on this uniform are, to the very best of my knowledge, genuine, original SOVIET made and issued, EXCEPT WHERE SPECIFICALLY INDICATED as being a COPY!
With THIS uniform, starting on the right chest are 1) an Order of Aleksander Nevsky (a COPY), and the largest one in the photos), 2) an Order of the Patriotic War, 1st Class, 3) an Order of the Red Star. The NEXT row shows: 4) a Badge for the 25th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War (WW2), 5) a Soviet Guards Badge (indicating service in one of the famous, elite Guards units) and, 6) the badge of a graduate of the prestigious FRUNZE MILITARY ACADEMY.
On the left breast, above the two rows of Orders and Medals, is the Gold Star of a Hero of the Soviet Union (a COPY) and a Medal for Military Merit on the Anniversary of the Birth of V I Lenin.
The upper multiple medal mounting bar holds: 1) an Order of Lenin (COPY), 2) an Order of Glory, 3rd class, 3) a Medal for Combat Service, 4) a Medal for the Defense of Leningrad, 5) a Medal for Victory over Germany in the great Patriotic War, 6) a Jubilee Medal for the 20th Anniversary of Victory in The Great Patriotic War, and, 7) a Jubilee Medal for the 30th Anniversary of Victory in The Great Patriotic War
The lower mounting bar includes: 8) a Medal for the Capture of Koenigsberg, 9) a Medal for the Capture of Berlin, 10) a Jubilee Medal for the 30th Anniversary of the Soviet Army and Fleet, 11), a Jubilee Medal for the 40th Anniversary of the Soviet Armed Forces, 12) A Jubilee Medal for the 50th Anniversary of the Soviet Armed Forces, 13) a Jubilee Medal for the 250th Anniversary of the City of Leningrad, 14) a Medal for 15 Years Irreproachable Service in the Armed Forces of the USSR and, lastly, 15) a Medal for 20 Years Irreproachable Service in the Armed Forces of the USSR.
This uniform indicates a senior field rank officer with a long and distinguished military record, with everything mounted properly and correctly, as it should be, using the proper materials and techniques. This outfit has been in my possession since 1993, and has been stored in a smoke-free and pet-free home all these years. I sold many, MANY of these uniforms back about 20 years ago, and these that I am listing lately are from my personal collection, and I am releasing them now only because I am getting on in years, and it is finally time to let someone else enjoy then. I think one would be hard-pressed to upgrade this uniform and, besides, there are VERY few being offered in this condition and in this state of decoration. They do make for a STUNNING display piece for the collector of Soviet militaria.
Bear in mind that these uniforms run heavy when packed, and the shipping charges sometimes can seem prohibitive, but the result IS worth it. Shipping will be via USPS INSURED Priority Mail Service.
ONE LAST WORD: this item was produced in the old Union of Soviet Socialist Republics over FORTY years ago, and it's sale does NOT in ANY WAY WHATSOEVER benefit the Putin regime NOR ANYONE ELSE in The Russian Federation today.
