Rare German 18th Century Coin Scale W/ Original Box, Scales, 18 Pc Weights

This is a rare German coin scale set in its original box. The set comes with the scale, 14 pieces of labeled weights, 4 sheet weights and a great wooden box. Brass weights are labeled - MAXD:, CARLIN, PISTOL, DUCAT AND SEVER. Back then not only did a coin have to be marked correctly but it had to be an exact weight. These scales were accurate, small and easily transportable so that a merchant could carry them with him anywhere and check a coins weight before accepting it. I think it was made around 1778 according to the label. The box is intact, hinges work and label is in very good shape for age. The scale works as it should. The box measures 5-1/8" wide 2-1/2" deep and is 1" thick. A great find, complete and intact!

If shipping Priority is too expensive to your location or you don't need 2-5 day delivery let us know and we will ship a more economical USPS way.
