    Original French One Panel Poster (47x63) for the William A. Wellman musical mystery, LADY OF BURLESQUE (1943) starring Barbara Stanwyck, Michael O'Shea, and Iris Adrian. Sassy Dixie Daisy (Stanwyck) is the not new attraction at the burlesque theater, but somebody keeps killing all the top burlesque stars. Burlesque was all but dead by the early 1940s, shut out of most localities by relentless moral crusaders. Moreover, Hollywood's infamous "code" prohibited most of burlesque's "appeal" from being accurately portrayed in the cinema. But in 1941, the legendary Gypsy Rose Lee wrote a novel called The G-String Murders, which proved so popular that United Artists decided to take a chance on the film. Stanwyck provides an excellent performance -both in her dramatic scenes as well as her incredible singing and dancing. This original French stone lithograph is folded and in very fine condition. However, the poster is fragile, and MovieArt recommends linen-backing. Absolutely authentic. MovieArt Austin will sell NO reproductions.
