Original Italian two-foglio (39x55) for the John Ford film THE FUGITIVE (1947) starring Henry Fonda, Dolores Del Rio and Pedro Armendariz. One of Ford's more cerebral films, THE FUGITIVE is also one of the most beautiful, with spectacular cinematography by the Mexican cinematographic master, Gabriel Figueroa. Fonda plays a fugitive priest on the run from the authorities in an unspecified Latin American country where religion has been outlawed. A bandit and his woman engineer an escape for the priest, but a police informant deceives the priest when he tells him that the man who helped him to escape is in need of last rites. What follows is a film that was never a commercial success, but one for which John Ford always felt a special affinity. The poster features art by Marino. This poster is folded and is graded in fine plus to very fine condition. There is some minor toning as it not uncommon with posters of this age.
