    Description

Just unpacked from a box that I packed away some 25-30 years ago comes this beautiful tray / platter in Depression Glass.  This 10 inch double-handled tray was manufactured by the Jeannette Glass Company of Jeannette, Pennsylvania - where much Depression Glass was manufactured.  The color is teal or what the Jeannette Company called "Ultra Marine" and the pattern features pansies and a doric pattern.  Overall, this seems to be the Art Nouveau style.  I identified this pattern in the great book "Collector's Encyclopedia of Depression Glass" by Gene & Cathy Florence (copyright 2004, 16th edition).  This great pattern was only manufactured for one year - from 1937-1938.  Therefore, it is not the easiest pattern to find out there.  The teal color also makes it original among Depression Glass patterns.  Much of this pattern was shipped to England and Canada during the Depression Era, which is one of the reasons that it is difficult to locate today.  In terms of condition, this round, double-handled tray is really great with no cracks and no major scratching.  There is a tiny, minute, flake on one of the handles (measuring less than 1/4 inch) which you can feel with your fingernail and can not be seen when the tray is turned over.  This is a great tray in a wonderful and rare color in Depression Glass.  Please see the photos, check my feedback, and ask any questions before making a purchase.  You will really be pleased with this great glass!!
