Description
This is a C. Desaga Heidelberg Antique Weight Set. It contains both brass and silver metal metric weights. There is also a set of tweezers made from brass and what looks to be ivory. The smaller silver toned weights are kept in place with a removable clear glass bar. The case is made of wood with velvet felt like material on the inside to nestle the weights and the tweezers. The box is stamped with the name C. Desaga Heidelberg. In my research about this weight set, I learned that C. Desaga was the son of Peter Desaga who perfected the design of the original Bunsen Burner. C. Desaga made scientific equipment from the mid 1800's to the early 1900's. I am not sure exactly the year that this was made. This weight set is in antique condition. The wood is shows both patina and wear. There is some cracking in the wood case. It measures approximately 4.75" x 3.25" x 1.75". The bottom of the box has the word Sido. on it. I have no idea what that means - maybe it was a previous owner of the set? The set is missing some of the smaller weights. The fabric lining does seem to be in relatively decent condition - there is no way for me to know if it is original to this set or if it was replaced.**Please look at the pictures as you will receive that exact weight set shown in them.
