ANTIQUE GENERAL STORE SCALE
Antique primitive cast iron two-toe crow's foot trade scale measuring 12" long and 5-1/2" tall - plate is 7" wide. Featuring a notched and numbered brass arm marked CHICAGO and LITTLE DETECTIVE, it is complete with small hanging weight as well as two additional weights as shown. Bearing a charming floral and trailing leaf hand painted and stenciled decoration, it was probably designed for use in a general store or women's emporium due to the fancier decoration to the exterior.
Condition is primitive and just lovely - scale still works as it should - there is overall rubbing and age related usage wear to this utilitarian tool - a wonderful item - the only one I have found with the decorative floral stenciling. It has been displayed in my kitchen on top of an old pine store counter - such a cool look! If you are decorating a farmhouse kitchen, this would be a wonderful addition to any collection!  Please note -- I used a flash to bring out the detail which is toning the scale and stenciling a bit bright.
