Great Large ambrotype Portrait
A handsome older gentleman sits for an almost full portrait, arm rested on a slightly tinted table.
My first impression was that he looked rather stately, however, after a minute or two of viewing I began to see more.  His expression, accentuated by the tinted cheeks, was remarkably uncanny to the expression my glazed over, boozed up uncle would make when he was in a slightly disgruntled, alcoholic haze.

Note:  First images have a black paper backing added to demonstrate the image.
Condition:
Protective glass is cracked, not image glass! Image shows some emulsion imperfections and minor scratching, light dust inside glass. The back lacquer is flakey and chipped in spots. Brass shows some mild patina spots and some bending to the preserver flaps. Displays well, and would even better with touched up backing and a new piece of front glass!
