Antique German Coin Scale Balance by Poppenberg Westphalia in Case

Description

This is a German cased coin balance by Johan Peter Poppenberg in Westphalen.  It contains square weights for various Continental coins and a steel balance with brass pans, all in inset compartments.  There is a printed maker's label in the lid, with manuscript owner's name and town, dated 1812.  The case has both it's eyes and hooks, and measures 7 x 3 1/2 inches.
