Description
1842 Dahlonega half eagle. Genuine. Currently housed in a third party slab. Decent eye appeal. An inexpensive way to own an historic example from this mint.My experience (opinion) with this grading service is they grade almost entirely on a coin's details and do not take issues into consideration in the grade. I am not a professional numismatist, but in my opinion this is an AU details coin that has been artificially toned. It has a coppery look like an old "red brown" copper cent. It is not as dark as the 1844 D I have also listed, but still too dark to be natural, in my opinion. It may have been done to hide an old cleaning or to make the coin look more "original". This coin has good eye appeal and I don't see any significant scratches or defects on the coin. Some of the scans are a little lighter than the coin itself. Like the 1844 D I also listed, I am being critical of the coin because I don't want someone buying the coin thinking it would cross over to PCGS or NGC. I am 99% sure it would be a "no grade" or "details" due to artificial toning.
I plan on listing paper money and gold coins next week.

There is no sales tax on coins in South Carolina and multiple other states. If eBay charges sales tax in a state that exempts collectible coins, dispute the charge with eBay. I have had to do it several times with paper money purchases which are also tax exempt in South Carolina.
No international buyers please.
